Trip to Minneapolis!

Last friday i took the MEGABUS from chicago to minneapolis to visit my two brothers, sister in law and two beautiful nieces Hazel and Sylvie! My brother Kirk who is at Bethel University and about to get married in June picked me up late late friday night. I will just tell you some of the highlights of my trip there. Went out to eat saturday night had some fish and chips yum yum. Went to church with them they attend a Sovereign Grace church in minneapolis. We grilled out that night and played some yard games it was pretty awesome. Monday i rode bikes with my brother Aaron to attend a barbeque before the twins game they opened up their new outdoor stadium and had the first home game that day but we couldnt get tickets! We watched on a big screen and in Brit's pub hahah! Tuesday went to mall of america with the kids and my sistern in law bethany just walked around, that place is massive if you ever get a chance to go you should. Played some bball with my bros, played outside with the girls and went to parks! It was a great trip, love seeing my family!

You may ask what i am doing now: Good question because im not out east anymore, i have moved back to the midwest in portage, MIchigan and am currently looking for employment here. I stay busy watching my younger brothers play baseball, in a co ed soccer league, volunteer with the middle school at my church, and sell Mary Kay on the side! I love the direction my life is heading and am very hopeful for the future. Lots of weddings to attend this summer, excited for all of them! God is very good to me and has blessed me immeasurably.

Connecticut!!!

So the first week on the new job and i am writing to talk about it. I am adjusting slowly and i think it will take lots more time to feel comfortable here. As for the kids they are pretty good. The youngest one tess is kind of in a phase right now i think with wanting everything her way and wanting to do it all herself if you know what i mean. She is a hoot though, the other day i handed her a piece of turkey meat and she said " thats cold in my hand " then put it in her mouth and said "but its warm in my mouth". those kinds of things. Tess is 3 and the youngest of four. The next is Teddy he just turned 5! He is a lovable young boy but can get into some tantrums that are not that fun.
The next is Chris and he is 7. He is very individualistic and keeps to himself a lot. If you get talking with him though he is a sweet kid.
The last one is Gus and he is 9. Gus struggles with a low form of autism. Im not totally positive what all that entails but am still learning a lot from Him.

All in all its been a great week cant complain, tomorrow we may go skiing as we got blasted with some snow today. Will update again soon. thanks for all your support, please continue to keep me in your prayers. Brittany Darling

India and beyond

next saturday the 30th i will be embarking on a mission to india with my father and 20 others. we will be working in the southern part of india i forget the town name. anyway while there we will be working with thousands of orphans doing medical and dental checkups we have trained doctors and dentists on our team i will just be assisting in that process. this is the only chance these kids get to have checkups the whole year thats how desperate health care is over there. at night we will be taking part in huge crusade meetings in which the gospel is presented and some of the pastors speak and give sermons. usually lasts about 4 hours and thousands of indians attend those meetings. those are just some of the things we will be taking part in!
Some PRAYER needs include:
1. safe travel there (about 24 hours in all) and while in india.
2. servant attitude while there
3. flexibility and cohesiveness of the team!

thanks to all, update to follow after arrival back in the states hopefully!

to those of you wondering whats after india???? good question because i will be actually leaving michigan and traveling back out east to connecticut this time to be a live in nanny for a family of four kids there!!

2010

sorry once again for my failed bloggingness!!
happy new year to all of you! this fall nannying for my niece was great to bond with her, the city never could live there myself. just the crowded streets and subways the dirtyness of it, but it was a super chance to get out of the comforts of my midwestern thinking and way of doing things so i definately was stretched. my sister and bro in law live in predominantly dominican neighborhood, so that was fun to interact and practice some of my spanish (although i would like to be better). we were able to visit lots of museums, parks, restaurants, see a broadway, meet other families and little kids just to name a few. it was also great to spend more time with my sis, we became huge fans of the show glee and would watch every wednesday night. i became so hooked i asked for the season on dvd for christmas and my request was granted. my older brother chris is also out there and we saw eachother quite a bit as well. nothing like the togetherness of family!! all in all a great experience.

it is now more than midway through january and this month has flown by! the last three weeks i have taken part in a ministry called ALONGSIDE in which pastors and missionaries and whoever else comes to get a renewal and training of christian leaders. it involves seminars, group time, individual counseling and lots of rest and thinking. it has been a rich and blessed experience!

i think this is enough for now so stay tuned for some more updates.....happy thursday!!!!!
